Marketing Mastery – the flagship event of our Marketing Month in March – was so full we had to close registrations early.
Our four sessions, a series of expert speakers covered the topics essential for consideration in every good marketing plan: organic social media content, paid social media marketing, email marketing and using Google to boost your business.
Whether you joined us on the day and want a recap, or weren’t able to get a ticket in time, below are ten top tips from the experts.
1) “Users scroll rapidly on social media, so you need a strong hook to stop them in their tracks and keep them engaged. This hook is everything. Whether visual, text-based or audio, it must be ‘thumb-stopping’.”
2) “Once you have found content that creates engagement for you/your brand on social media, don’t be afraid to rinse and repeat. Double down on what works.”
3) “A business will mostly be selling to those who already have a need for your product or service, and you’ll be mainly competing on price. But if you build a brand, you are adding value to your customers’ lives and the possibilities are endless. Building a brand means that when your customers no longer ‘need’ your product/service, they will still ‘want’ it.”
4) “When you start building a paid ad campaign with Meta (Facebook/Instagram), the first question is what’s your objective. Meta is great at then delivering what you want. So don’t overcomplicate it, let them do the work for you.”
5) “By placing the Meta Pixel on your website, you can build custom audiences – for example targeting adverts on Facebook and Instagram exclusively to people who have previously visited your website or added something to the cart and not bought it.”
6) “Email marketing works – it gets three times the conversion rate of social media!”
7) “Once someone gives their permission to join your email list, they are engaged and ready to hear from you.”
8) “Every single email you send should have a call to action. Be creative with them. And remember that if you use ‘I’ and ‘we’ – e.g ‘I want to save money now’ – people are more likely to click on them.”
9) “Your website has two stakeholders – your visitors and Google. Focus on the user, but always also consider what would make Google happy and boost you up the rankings.”
10) “Keyword research is essential – use tools like Google’s Keyword Planner or the Keywords Everywhere Chrome Extension to understand what your customers and potential customers are searching for.”
