The Medical Centre is seeking a professional, organised, and friendly Receptionist to join our team. The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors and plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the medical centre.

The ideal candidate will be reliable, dedicated to their role, possess excellent communication and computer skills, and demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when handling patient information.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner

• Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to enquiries promptly

• Schedule and manage patient appointments efficiently

• Register new patients and maintain accurate patient records

• Use the practice computer systems to enter, update, and retrieve patient information

• Process correspondence, messages, and administrative tasks for clinicians

• Manage patient flow within the medical centre and communicate with clinical staff

• Handle general administrative duties including filing, scanning, and document management

• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with healthcare regulations

• Assist in maintaining a clean, organised, and welcoming reception environment

Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities

• Good computer skills and ability to work with medical practice software

• Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy healthcare environment

• High level of reliability, dedication, and attention to detail

• Professional appearance and positive attitude

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team 

Person Specification 

• Friendly and approachable manner

• Patient-focused attitude with a strong sense of empathy

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure 

Desirable (but not essential)

• Previous experience working in a medical practice or healthcare setting

• Familiarity with medical administrative systems
