Contract: Part time, 2 days/week (0.4 FTE) / 5 year funding period.
Purpose of the role:
To provide senior strategic leadership and oversight for the programme, ensuring strong governance, high-quality delivery and effective alignment between strategy, partnerships, evidence and impact. The Project Lead will act as a senior ambassador for the programme, supporting external credibility, funder confidence and long-term sustainability. This role sits at the intersection of health inequalities, structural racism, antisemitism and systems change.
The postholder will bring senior-level experience of the health sector, ideally including NHS, Integrated Care Systems, public health, commissioning, workforce or health equity settings, together with a strong understanding of how antisemitism and structural discrimination affect
Jewish communities and wider health outcomes. This is an opportunity to establish and lead a pioneering national programme that will shape how Jewish health inequalities are understood and addressed across England.
Key responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership for JHEP, ensuring delivery aligned with the programme’s theory of change, funding agreement and outcomes.
• Provide leadership, direction and oversight to the Programme Director, Research Lead and Training Lead, ensuring coherent delivery across all
programme workstreams.
• Work collaboratively with the lay and professional teams at the Board of Deputies, London Jewish Forum, and delivery partners including in the
training and research workstreams
• Build and sustain senior relationships across the health sector, including Integrated Care Systems and NHS trust leaders, commissioners, public
health leads, NHS stakeholders and local authorities.
• Build and sustain senior relationships across the Jewish community, including health and social care charities, professional networks, local and
regional groups, and other organisations active in the health sector.
• Represent the programme in strategic forums, policy conversations and partnership settings, including the NLCF Health Inequities Partnership.
• Act as a senior ambassador for the programme, promoting its vision and building confidence among partners and stakeholders.
• Lead the programme’s influence agenda, including recognition of antisemitism and Jewish health inequity within health systems.
• Provide strategic judgement to ensure the programme remains politically astute, evidence-led and responsive to reputational and policy risks.
• Oversee governance, risk and accountability arrangements, working closely with the Steering Group and delivery partner leads
• Oversee finances and resource allocation, ensuring delivery remains aligned with agreed budgets, funder requirements and strategic priorities.
• Provide strategic oversight and assurance to the Steering Group and NLCF through high-quality reporting, performance monitoring and governance.
• Support the development of sustainability, co-commissioning and legacy planning to maximise long-term impact beyond the initial funding period.
What success looks like:
• The programme is a credible national voice on Jewish health equity.
• Governance, risk and delivery are well managed and proportionate.
• Relationships with Integrated Care Systems and national stakeholders are productive and sustained.
• The project makes visible influence on systems, not just activity.
• The programme is positioned for long-term embedding
