Main duties:
1. To assist in the responsibility for providing a high quality of teaching and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children.
2. To communicate effectively and work in close partnership with parents/carers, keeping them informed about the Nursery and its curriculum; exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging their involvement. Share information with any shared care nurseries.
3. To ensure that the Nursery is a safe environment for children, staff others, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times and fire drills are regularly practised.
4. To ensure that each child is working towards Early Learning Goals; to monitor the effectiveness of the planning.
5. To support the setting up and tidying away of equipment and resources at the beginning and end of each day.
6. To contribute to the Nursery policies and procedures, especially those relating to equal opportunities, safeguarding and confidentiality.
7. To participate in the daily programme of the Nursery and Lunch Club activities in addition to any events (i.e. parent shows, trips.)
8. To observe and record information so that children’s attainment and progress are effectively and regularly assessed; to monitor the effectiveness of assessment procedures and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
9. To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book.
10. To attend all staff meetings.
11. To ensure safe supervision of children at all times ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
12. To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the management committee, in accordance with the Pre-school learning alliance.
