EmployAble is an exciting and ambitious new enterprise which is striving to create a world where every person with a learning disability and/or autism who wants to work, can work. EmployAble vision is to create a world where every person with a learning disability or autism who wants to work, can work. This role is pivotal to supporting and realising employment for these candidates.

This is all about working in a person centred way to support the people using this service to be included in the workforce in a way that they can contribute meaningfully to it. The role provides the first point of contact for EmployAble’s candidate, working directly with them to understand their skills and motivations whilst, simultaneously, working with employer partners creatively to identify opportunities within vacant roles which match the candidates’ talents. Once a match is agreed, the final piece is to support the new employee’s induction, training and ongoing supervision to ensure safe, successful and sustainable employment.

Key Accountabilities:

· You are passionate about the vision and think laterally and creatively to seek out exciting opportunities to fulfil it. You are also willing to constructively challenge any current practice which is at odds with the vision.

· Ability to understand, assess and mitigate risks in relation to Information Governance, Health and Safety and Safeguarding, and be able to recognise and take action if a disclosure of the latter is made.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Work directly with an agreed case load of candidates to meet target outcomes.

· Identify and work directly with employers: to identify opportunities within vacant roles which match the candidates’ talents; to offer support to mitigate concern and risk; to explore training and consultancy needs required that could be supplied to embed a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.

· Once job has been identified, breakdown the job into specific tasks to create the right match and develop a job coaching plan.

· Fulfil the job coaching plan, either by providing direct support or arranging for an EmployAble Job Coach to fulfil this role.

· Record employment outcomes and contribute to developing and maintaining evidence providing case studies when required.

· Actively promote sensible health & safety by being a positive role model.

· Specific individual, shared targets and objectives will be defined annually through performance management review and necessary training identified and supported.

· To adhere to all EmployAble’s policies, procedures, processes and guidelines at all times and to attend training provided, monthly supervision, case conferencing and team meetings.

· To work with CEO to ensure completion of all allocated tasks including Access to Work paperwork, claims and follow up when required.

· Support the development, growth and shaping of EmployAble through constructive feedback and identification of new opportunities.

· Perform other duties as required and as appropriate.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience of interacting with adults with learning disabilities and autism
  • Good working knowledge of the needs and aspirations of adults with a learning disability to establish themselves with the workplace and sustain their employment
  • Displays an understanding of the needs of the employers, with an ability to influence the value of an individual with a learning disability within the workplace
  • Ability to deliver presentations and to encourage and educate employers in the benefits of becoming a Disability Confident employer
  • Ability to observe candidates suitability within work experience settings
  • Experience or evidence of providing job carving solutions
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written, with ability to use creative methods of presenting information to a wide variety of audiences, organising and co-ordinating projects and events.

Desirable:

  • Supported Employment Diploma Level 3 or equivalent
  • Training in systemic instruction
