Help Shape Safe Environments for Children Across Our Community

The United Synagogue is seeking an experienced safeguarding and compliance professional to lead safeguarding oversight across our 16 cheder settings. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate safeguarding practitioner who thrives on driving high standards, supporting educational leaders, and ensuring children learn in safe, nurturing environments. If you have strong safeguarding knowledge, experience holding teams accountable for compliance, and the confidence to influence practice across multiple sites, we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As our Cheder Compliance Manager, you will be the key safeguarding contact across all Chedarim, working closely with Head Teachers and safeguarding colleagues to ensure consistent compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures. You'll:

  • Lead safeguarding oversight across 16 cheder settings.
  • Support and supervise Head Teachers on safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Monitor safeguarding training compliance and address areas of concern.
  • Conduct safeguarding visits, observations, and compliance spot checks.
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, recorded, and escalated appropriately.
  • Support safer recruitment practices for staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate safeguarding records and reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with safeguarding specialists and community stakeholders to strengthen safeguarding culture across the organisation.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines safeguarding expertise with strong leadership and compliance experience.

You'll bring:

  • Proven experience managing and supporting staff teams
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding policies, procedures, and child protection practice
  • Knowledge of statutory safeguarding frameworks and referral pathways
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to challenge and support colleagues effectively
  • Strong organisational and record-management skills
  • Experience working across multiple sites or settings would be highly advantageous

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Safeguarding qualifications such as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training
  • Experience using safeguarding case management systems such as CPOMS
  • Experience working in a faith, community, educational, or supplementary school environment

Why Join Us?

At the United Synagogue, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. You'll play a vital role in protecting children and supporting our educational communities while helping to drive continuous improvement and best practice across all cheder settings.

Benefits include:

  • 20 days annual leave (pro rata) plus Bank Holidays
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Auto-enrolment pension scheme
