Sharing careers advice for graduates in The Jewish News

Work Avenue has been featured in a fantastic new Jewish News article, which gives an in-depth look at how graduates and young professionals can navigate one of the most challenging job markets in recent years.

The piece, written by Jewish News Business and Tech Editor Candice Krieger, explores the combination of economic uncertainty, AI and shifting hiring practices that are reshaping graduate and entry-level employment.

Work Avenue’s Head of Employment Melanie Pearl and Employment Adviser Richard Linden share their expertise, giving advice to those just starting out in their careers and highlighting the many different pathways young people can explore.

Melanie told the paper: “Alternative routes into work are becoming increasingly common, including apprenticeships, freelance or portfolio-based careers, and skills-focused training programmes.”

Richard explained that practical experience and networking are becoming “more important than ever” as traditional graduate routes become more competitive and AI continues to reshape everything from how recruitment is done to the number of entry-level jobs available.

However, they both agreed there was good news to be found. Melanie added: “There are strong opportunities available when graduates take a proactive approach, whether that’s networking, gaining experience or developing practical skills.”
