About The GIR Group

The GIR Group is a fast-growing multidisciplinary construction, consultancy and professional services group operating throughout the UK. Our businesses provide consultancy, project management, surveying, construction delivery, insurance services, compliance and technical advisory services to a wide range of clients including insurers, law firms, developers, housing providers, commercial organizations and private clients. As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to become a key member of our leadership team and take ownership of the day-to-day operational management of the Group.

The Opportunity

This is a senior office-based role for someone who thrives on organization, accountability and operational excellence.

You will work closely with the Group Directors and will be responsible for ensuring that projects, departments, people, systems, and business processes operate efficiently across the Group. This is not an administrative role. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, drives improvements, and ensures that things get done without requiring continual direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of The GIR Group.

• Monitor operational performance across all departments.

• Produce weekly operational reports and monthly management reports.

• Chair weekly operational meetings and monitor completion of actions.

• Coordinate projects, consultants and operational teams.

• Manage recruitment, onboarding and HR coordination.

• Drive implementation of operational systems, software and business processes.

• Develop and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Monitor workloads, priorities and resource allocation.

• Identify operational risks and implement solutions before escalation.

• Ensure departments remain accountable for delivering against agreed objectives.

• Support the Directors in delivering the Group's strategic growth plans.

The successful candidate will be:

• Highly organised and exceptionally proactive.

• A natural leader who takes ownership and delivers results.

• Commercially aware with strong business acumen.

• Process-driven and passionate about continuous improvement.

• Confident managing multiple departments simultaneously.

• Excellent at prioritising competing demands.

• Comfortable making decisions and solving problems independently.

• Able to hold people accountable whilst maintaining positive working relationships.

Essential Experience

• Minimum 5 years' experience in an Operations Manager, General Manager or equivalent senior operational role.

• Proven experience leading operational teams.

• Experience implementing business systems and operational processes.

• Excellent organisational and reporting skills.

• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office 365.

Experience within construction, engineering, consultancy, professional services, property or insurance sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first six months, you will have:

• Established full operational visibility across the Group.

• Implemented consistent weekly and monthly reporting.

• Successfully embedded operational systems and software.

• Improved accountability across departments.

• Ensured operational tasks are completed without continual director intervention.

• Reduced the Directors' involvement in day-to-day operational management, allowing them to focus on strategic growth.

Salary & Benefits

• Company pension

• 20 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays

• Professional development opportunities

• Career progression within a rapidly growing Group

• Direct exposure to senior leadership with the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the business

The successful candidate will be subject to a 6 to 12-month probationary period. During this time, performance will be assessed against clearly defined operational objectives and KPIs, including leadership, accountability, operational reporting, delivery of business improvements, implementation of systems, people management and the ability to independently manage the Group's day-to-day operations. Successful completion of probation will be dependent upon consistently meeting these performance standards.
