DANIELLA’S STORY
THE CHALLENGES:
Daniella was ready to return to the workplace but says she “just felt a bit lost” when it came to looking for a job, after a long career break to raise a family.
She said: “Other than a few ad-hoc admin tasks for a friend, I was out of work for 4-5 years. I knew I needed to go back to basics when it came to the job search.”
Things had changed a lot since the last time Daniella had looked for work, especially the importance now placed on online searches and applications.
THE EMPOWER HER JOURNEY:
Daniella was aware of Work Avenue, through a friend who had been receiving employment guidance, so when she saw a local advert for the Work Avenue Empower Her course – designed specifically to help women back into the workforce after career breaks – she decided to apply.
The course, along with the support of the Work Avenue team, equipped her with the knowledge and skills she needed to find and apply for work.
Daniella said: “It covered everything from searching for a job and structuring your CV to looking inside yourself to see where you are in life and what you need from work.”
THE IMPACT:
Thanks to “the well thought-out and brilliantly delivered” Empower Her programme and a “fantastic” assigned one-to-one adviser in Melanie, Daniella felt more confident applying for jobs.
This led to her soon landing a role with Maccabi GB – the UK’s leading Jewish sports, health and wellbeing charity.
She concluded: “I came to Empower Her feeling lost. Now, I feel so much more able and confident and am delighted to be back in the workplace.”
