Hours: 1 ½ hours of teaching and ½ hour of planning a week.

We are seeking a highly capable, personable and dynamic individual to join our team as a gym instructor course tutor. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience as a PT or fitness instructor who can lead a group of young people to gain level 2 gym instructor course. – Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing (Online) | HFE

Gateways is fortunate to have its very own gym, equipped with top of the range equipment where the course will take place.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

From theory to practical, you’ll teach exactly what it takes to become a leading gym instructor following the HFE gym instructor course syllabus. Below is a selection of the modules you will be expected to teach students:

● Level 2 anatomy and physiology

● Principles of fitness training

● Planning gym-based training

● Teaching and instructing gym-based exercise

● Cardiovascular training principles

● This course is already produced so you will not be required to devise the course syllabus although we encourage you to be creative in your delivery

● You'll receive comprehensive support from our head of teaching and learning every step of the way, so prior formal teaching experience isn't necessary

The successful candidate will:

• Be highly organised, flexible, confident, skilled, and self-motivated

• Have a GCSE or equivalent qualification in English and Maths

• Have excellent time management skills

• Be a highly effective communicator

• Have experience working with young people either in a formal or informal setting

• Be motivational to their students

• Understand the need for confidentiality and sensitivity

• Have a proactive approach

• Have the ability to work well with and empathise with others

• Self-organised, be able to prioritise and manage conflicting demands to meet deadlines
