Development Officer – Holocaust Memorial Trust

Hours: Hours 21 hours per week, Office hours are 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday (with some flexibility including working from home). Core office days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Occasional hours outside of these will be necessary for which TOIL will be granted.

About: At Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, we are building a diverse and inclusive team to support our core goal of “learning from genocide to build a better future”. We engage with communities of all faiths and backgrounds to educate on and commemorate the Holocaust and more recent genocides. 

Job purpose and role

To support the Development Team at HMDT to maximise voluntary income with a focus on managing processes and administration for fundraising purposes.

Main Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the administration of donations for events and fundraising appeals

2. To support the administration of Friends of HMDT regular giving programme

3. To promote and manage contributions to the HMDT Memorial Pages

4. To provide fundraising content for the HMDT e-newsletter

5. To support online and community fundraising 

6. To research and support fundraising applications to Trusts and Foundations

7. To deliver marketing and administration of commemorative candle sales


• Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be requested

• Provide support and cover of duties across the Development team where necessary Development Officer

• Work as part of the HMDT team to realise the charitable aims and 

Holocaust Memorial Day Trusts organisational strategic plan

Personal Specification

1. Experience in administration, preferably for fundraising 

2. Highly organised and ability to prioritise effectively 

3. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines 

4. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills 

5. Strong computer skills and CRM management, preferably Salesforce

6. Ability to work sensitively with stakeholders 

7. Demonstrate an understanding and respect for the sensitive and confidential nature of the role


• Experience of researching fundraising opportunities

• Knowledge of antisemitism and relevant contemporary issues 

• Knowledge of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides
