Chesed Warehouse Supervisor – United Synagogue

Job Purpose:

Responsible for ensuring the efficient management and control of the ‘Chesed Chub’ warehouse operation. Responsible for organising the ordering, safe and efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of warehouse items as per the demand. Responsible for developing a network of volunteers who will support the ‘Chesed Chub’ at Bushey.   

Duties and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:  

• Plan, co-ordinate and monitor the ordering, receipt, storage, and dispatch of all goods including liaising with suppliers. 

• Input and hold responsibility for Warehouse budgets.  

• Management of the Chesed Warehouse Assistant 

• Ensure an efficient warehouse operation operated by a network of volunteers which is able to fulfil demand.  

• Ensure inventories are accurate and cascaded to all relevant data bases. 

• Ensure efficient and effective use of warehouse space.  

• Ensure a clean and tidy working environment that maintains safety standards within the warehouse and complies with regulations related to transportation and storage. 

• Coordinate food collections and donations. 

• Recuriting, supervising and managing volunteers ensuring parcels are packed correctly and that they have a meaningful volunteering experience. 

• Provide a safe working environment, adhering to Health & Safety policies and ensuring relevant risk assessments are carried out.  

• Review ways to reduce waste and continuously review ways to aid efficiency, add value and reduce costs. 

• Continuously review ways to improve volunteer interaction across the Bushey cemetery sites. 

• Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice warehouse vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.  

• Work as part of the team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery. 

• To support other Chesed department projects and team members as required

Generic Duties:

• Committed to the aims of the United Synagogue and act as an ambassador for the organisation. 

• Comply with The United Synagogue’s policy and procedures and code of expectations. 

• Bring to the attention of senior staff any health and safety requirements, which become obvious. In the event of any immediate danger, to take the appropriate action to reduce risk to physical danger to employees, members, contractors, volunteers, children, parents, visitors, or staff. 

• Work collaboratively with other colleagues across the organisation to ensure the United Synagogue can achieve its vision, mission, and strategy. 

• Undertake appropriate training as requested by your line manager in conjunction with the Human Resources Department and be committed to own continuous professional development. 

• Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Chief Executive or other designated senior staff/undertaking such other duties that occasionally fall within the purpose of the post.
