The Ambulance Wish Foundation- Volunteering Opportunities

  • Location:
  • Sector: Not for Profit
  • Salary: Voluntary Role

The Ambulance Wish Foundation is a charity providing final wish fulfillment for terminally ill and immobile people without discrimination or charge. No wish is too big or too small, too complex or too simple .

When our ambulance was grounded by Covid we repurposed it to deliver meals and food in bulk to NHS and other keyworkers .

As the virus threat eased the pressure on the NHS our transfer / delivery service has switched organically to supporting food banks , homeless and asylum seeker communities .

We deliver daily for Compassion London, driving their vans, and weekly support includes Edible London , Homeless Action in Barnet , Sewa Day , Food Bank Aid , Gratitude amongst others .

Our journeys usually start from Compassion London’s base in Alexandra Palace.

In the last 4 months we have delivered over 50000 meals , 35- 45 tonnes of food and covered 8000 miles .

We are extending our existing relationship with one of the big supermarket chains and need to recruit

• volunteer drivers – must be aged 25 – 70, clean license for 5 years

• lifters – for crates and boxes of food/meals

• fundraisers - to shake a bucket at the supermarket stores on a monthly basis : St Albans and other areas to be confirmed. On a sessional basis.

This is a great opportunity to be involved with a unique charity and help the wider community.
