Assistant Manager- Outreach Services- Jewish Care

The Outreach Assistant Manager is a newly formed role, as such, this job description provides an outline of the overall responsibilities and is neither prescriptive nor an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities.
This post is part time for our Michael Sobell Jewish Community Centre in Golders Green, and is for 18 hours per week

Purpose of Role
To ensure the efficient and effective running of community based services in the North-West London Community Hub; 

What you'll be doing:
  • The development and day-to-day operational running of MSJCCs evening and weekend services, a plethora of regular once a month events for varying cohorts in the Jewish community aimed at reducing social isolation and encouraging people to live well.
  • Support day-to-day operational running of Connect@ services in Kenton in collaboration with the relevant Connect@ Manager, a one day a week Jewish Day Centre for older Jewish people and for people living with dementia; The development of other Connect@ services
  • Working with relevant colleagues to develop and run Supportive Communities, Community Dementia Projects, Befriending and Telephone Befriending
  • Responsibility for the wellbeing, line-management, development and performance of Outreach staff and volunteers
  • Working in consort with internal and external colleagues to ensure that the physical environment and catering services are safe and well run;
  • Working with relevant staff and volunteers to ensure that new services and programming are implemented and managed in line with agreed standards and KPIs;
  • Working with colleagues from other departments within Jewish Care, to deliver existing outreach services, such as Connect@ Kenton, Community Dementia and Supportive Communities services;
  • Working with Community Development and Community Engagement colleagues to develop new services in collaboration with partner agencies
  • Working with Community Development and Community Engagement colleagues to develop new Outreach services
  • Working with the Centre Coordinator to develop and run Support Services for members such as hospital/GP assistance, help with shopping and other supported tasks.
What you'll need:

  • Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Further or higher education qualifications in social care, social work, community work or dementia. (Desirable)
  • Extensive experience in a Outreach role, working with older and/or disabled people;
  • Experience working with people living with dementia, either in a personal or professional capacity;
  • Substantial people management experience; 
  • Experience working in a complex multi stakeholder environment.
  • Experience working in a co-production culture
Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, across all levels of observance, local parlance and sensitivities;
  • Working knowledge of The Care Act, The Mental Capacity Act, DOLS and general adult safeguarding best practice;
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to deliver a consistently high quality customer experience;
  • High levels of creativity and resourcefulness, with the ability to work within tight deadlines and budgets;
  • Outstanding administrative, management and organisational skills; and
  • High levels of IT literacy in the use of modern business systems, such as the Microsoft Office suite, Internet and cloud based services and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
