Light Up a Life Project Leader

The Betterworld Charity is a well established UK charity that at its core strives to work towards a better world for everyone. Our organisation has distinct but linked components in the spheres of education and general life well-being, each working within its own allocated budgets & funds. Contract duration: ASAP until 5/1/2010
4 month project - approx 200-250 hours in total. 
Hours increase monthly throughout project duration.
Pay: £2500 - £3000 approx (£25,000 approx. full time pro-rata)

Light Up a Life: 
“Light up a Life” is an annual project run by Betterworld that aims to unite people from across Greater London in a major volunteer and giving “drive” over the annual winter holidays, between 25th Dec – 1st Jan. Its recruitment focus is currently within  the Jewish Community but we are looking to expand beyond that. Working in conjunction with many charities and organisations, large and small the main project goals are:
To demonstrate hacares hatov (appreciation and thanks for the good) to the country we live in and its public services we receive which are often taken for granted in our society.
To place volunteers where they are needed most, for example, in homeless shelters, hospitals, hospices, old age homes and care facilities across London.

The main responsibilities of the role are to manage all project administration, including but not limited to:
  • Programming all activities into the Light Up A Life web portal through which all sign ups are made 
  • Marketing: sending mailshot campaigns via MailChimp, Social Media promotion
  • Matching volunteers who come through the website or through our database with suitable activities 
  • Keeping partnering charities regularly informed of volunteer sign ups and following up with volunteers for necessary admin
  • Updating the website: uploading partner logos onto homepage and sending our logo to partners as appropriate
  • Collating website and social media analytics for marketing purposes.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:
  • Experience of working in Administration, Operations, or related fields
  • Good knowledge of website/email administration – WordPress, Mailchimp
  • Ability to produce accurate work to tight deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to multi task in various areas simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally to individuals and at small meetings
  • Word processing, Web, Social Media and Spreadsheet skills/ability. 
  • To be self-sufficient in terms of administration.
  • General experience of working in an Office environment and possess general office skills
  • Positive Persona, Responsible, Proactive, Happy to get involved in the detail. Conscientious and Thorough.
