Communications & Events Manager (maternity cover) - Tel Aviv University Trust

Tel Aviv University Trust (TAU Trust) leads fundraising activities for Tel Aviv University, invites TAU faculty to visit London to share their research and knowledge with British audiences in order to strengthen the University’s reputation throughout the UK, and encourages academic collaborations between TAU and UK universities. The Trust hosts events throughout the year, ranging from small scale breakfasts and lunches to film and music events to large evening galas.

Key Responsibilities
Supporting the CEO and the team in planning and delivering events, managing the TAU Trust website, coordinating and managing all social media platforms, managing and updating the database of benefactors, assisting with our internal communications with colleagues in Tel Aviv, managing the publication of our external communications via a newsletter, emails, and invitations to events, and being responsible for logistics of visiting faculty and TAU Alumni.
This is a maternity cover position from September 2019- February 2020.

Main Activities

Planning and Delivering Events
o Designing, managing and delivering special projects and events for TAU
o Brainstorming with the team for new ideas for events, new venues, and potential speakers
o Securing venues for events and being responsible for organizing appropriate catering
o Working with graphic designers to design materials
o Sending out all event invitations via the database
o Managing event guest lists
o Liaising with visiting professors
o Assisting in developing audiences for specific key programs
o Estimating costs of events and delivering projects to this budget
o Managing post event communications
o Preparing documents and materials and attending TAU Trust meetings

o Managing TAU Trust’s website including updating content, uploading TAU articles, news and other information
o Managing and enhancing social media sites e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Google
o Initiating, design, writing and editing newsletters that showcase news and events to our supporters
o Liaison with Israeli and Jewish Community for potential collaborations and joint events
o Attending educational fairs and representing TAU
TAU Alumni:
o Organising special events for TAU Alumni and young professionals
o Providing TAU Alumni with the latest information, news and updates from the university
o Creating engagement events including partnerships
o Increasing our alumni community
Managing database:
o Being responsible for the maintenance and updating of a full database of benefactors and contributors of +2,000 people
o Assisting in growing the alumni database and network
o Sending out regular mailings to people on the database

Experience & skills
To be successful in this role you will need to be a highly organized individual with strong interpersonal skills. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as having a strong level of social confidence. You will need to be someone who is open and responsive with great attention to detail. You will need to be creative, “think outside the box” and be willing to develop ideas. You will be expected to exhibit personal motivation and be someone with initiative who enjoys being part of a small team.

Essential skills required
o Familiar with Microsoft software
o Knowledge of WordPress & Mailchimp would be advantageous
o Familiar with managing social media platforms
o Excellent communication skills
o Ability to think creatively and innovatively
o Budget-management skills and proficiency
o Teamwork and the ability to foster good working relationships
o A creative approach
o Strong organization and planning skills
o Fluency in Hebrew would be an advantage

Job details
The hours of work are 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 3pm on Fridays. We do however expect flexibility and it is a requirement of the job that you are flexible as some events may occur at the weekends, or are held early in the morning or in the evening.
For the right candidate, we would be willing to take on a more part-time employee.
Salary: Competitive and the role includes the option to join the charity’s pension scheme from the start of the role.
