Preschool Practitioner- Yeladenu Preschool

Responsible for:     Welfare of Children
Job:    To work as a key person and as part of the preschool team under the direction of the Preschool Manager to provide safe, high quality education and care for young children.
Hours:  
Role 1: Afternoon hours only, Monday- Thursday 12.15-3.15 from September 2019.
Role 2: Term time only Full Time is Monday – Thursday 08.30 am – 3.15 pm, Friday 08.00 – 12.30 pm OR Part Time Monday – Thursday 12.00 – 3.15 pm, Friday 08.00 – 12.30 from January 2020
     
Main Duties

•    To assist with the planning of the curriculum.
•    To help set up the playroom for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of a session.
•    To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
•    To advise the preschool leader of any concerns e.g. over children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
•    To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation.
•    To attend staff meetings, AGM and professional development courses as required.
•    To attend in-service training courses and meetings as required.
•    To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
•    To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Preschool leader, in accordance with the preschool’s business plan/objectives.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
•    CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Preschool Practice/Early Years, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
•    Substantial experience of working with young children.
•    Commitment to diversity and equal opportunities.
•    Commitment to young children and families.
•    Friendly, flexible approach.
•    Willingness to learn.
•    Able to change and adapt to new ways of working
•    Suitable both mentally and physically, to care for children.
•    Computer literate in Microsoft functions, internet and email
•    Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
•    To be happy working in a Jewish environment.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA
•    Diploma in Preschool Practice or NVQ Level III.
•    Paediatric First Aid
•    GCSE Maths and English minimum Grade C or equivalent


This post will require enhanced DBS.
