Etgar Intern- May-July 2019

Etgar aims to foster Jewish learning in primary schools by creating an exciting, team based inter-school quiz competition for Year 5.
We provide a Jewish General Knowledge handbook for all students in Year 5 which contains all the information that pupils will need to answer the questions in the quiz. 
This annual event was launched in July 2013 with a competition based on the Etgar book.
Last year’s event in 2017 was our biggest ever – with 1000 children, from  28 schools across the UK and one school from Israel. 

Job Description for Intern
The main role of The Etgar Intern is to support the Etgar Co-ordinator to plan and produce the annual Etgar Event. This includes the supervision and supporting of any other interns and volunteers.
The Etgar Intern will also help with the implementation and evaluation of the Etgar Assessments in selected schools which take place in May/June.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
•    To support the Etgar Israel Co-ordinator to deliver the Etgar Israel event. 
•    At the Etgar Israel event – to be available to cover any area of the event that is needed.
•    Visit schools to administer the assessments. Help to scan and evaluate the assessments.
•    In conjunction with the Etgar Co-ordinator - recruit, train and motivate madrichim and volunteers. 
•    To induct, support and develop a programme for the work placement students.
•    To help plan the Etgar Challenge, including logistics on the day, organising the table plans, and ordering any resources and materials for the day.
•    Be responsible for supervising the packing for the Etgar Challenge  – including managing the volunteers and supporting the intern who will be responsible for the process.
•    Supporting the Etgar Co-ordinator to plan the Etgar Challenge. At the event – to be available to cover any area of the event that is needed.
•    To be responsible for the scanning and administration of the quiz on the day.
•    Supporting the Etgar Co-ordinator to manage and organise the madrichim at the Etgar Challenge.


Dates Required: 1st May – 16th July 2018. Some flexibility with dates. 

Hours:
Monday – Thursday 9 am – 5pm. There will be some flexibility about the hours worked, with occasional Fridays. 

Salary:
Based on a 4 day week, it will be £285 a week.
