HR Volunteer- All Aboard

Working closely with the HR Manager and Assistant HR Manager, this position is ideal for someone looking to get involved in all aspects of the HR function within the non-profit Charity sector including:
  • Recruitment (including writing and posting job adverts, gathering information on applicants, scheduling job interviews and assisting in the interview process)
  • Induction (Welcoming new employees to the organisation by conducting orientation (at present this mainly applies to Head Office staff) and ensuring reference checks are completed as well as preparing new employee files and associated paperwork)
  • Absence management
  • Terminations (ie.  assisting with exit interviews and associated paperwork)
  • Performance management
  • Workplace dispute resolution and any associated grievances.
  • Disciplinary process (including investigation meetings; notetaking at disciplinary meetings)
  • Shop visits
  • HR enquiries – answering employees’ questions face to face and on the phone while maintaining employee confidence at all times.
  • Apprenticeship arrangements – speaking to apprenticeship providers professional bodies. 
  • Maintainence of current HR files and databases in line with GDPR regulations.
  • Administration and secretarial support in the HR office. 
  • Helping out, as and when required, in the general office (eg. answering the phones and booking collections – training on the database will be provided)
Required competencies of an HR Volunteer/Assistant at all Aboard
  • To have a strong interest in HR and have the CIPD qualification or be working towards it (or be seriously  thinking about the qualification)
  • To exhibit strong interpersonal skills/empathic viewpoint when dealing with staff
  • To remain calm and patient at all times
  • To respect the importance of confidentiality
  • To be adept at problem-solving ie. identify issues and resolve in a timely manner while liaising with the  HR Manager.
  • To  be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally to eg. employees and at group presentations and meetings
  • To be able to read and interpret information, and present numerical data.
  • To be able to prioritize and plan work activities to as to use time efficiently.
  • To be organised, accurate and thorough.
  • To be dependable, able to follow instructions and respond to management direction
This voluntary position is available on Fridays, 9.30am-5.30pm
