Start-Up Central 2018

One hundred and fifty entrepreneurs and small business owners took advantage of expert advice and guidance from Google’s Digital Garage at Work Avenue’s Start-Up Central event.  This much acclaimed event, held at WE Hub, attracted entrepreneurs, freelancers, start-ups and growing businesses to go one step further with the application of digital media within their businesses, looking to enhance their brand awareness and sales.

Google’s Digital Garage shared their knowledge and experience of social media and encouraged a lively debate about its application in small and start-up businesses. The talks included how to use social platforms to raise awareness, network and reach new customers online, with plenty of handy tips and information to boost small businesses.

Additional support came from Work Avenue in the form of break out workshops on topics of interest to entrepreneurs including finance for your business, sales and marketing and a business checklist, and one to one expert clinics with industry experts for specific advice and guidance on a range of subjects including communication strategies, branding, tax and IT.

Jo Sadie, business adviser at Work Avenue, commented: “The range and diversity of our delegates was quite exceptional today.  I hope everyone has come away with useful actions and ideas from both the Google presentations and the break out sessions to help them develop their business.”

Rachel McEwan from Metro Bank Borehamwood, the dynamic newcomer to the high street banking scene, who offered one to one advice at the event, stated: “We were so pleased to be able to offer advice at Start up Central.  Events like this can offer so much to entrepreneurs and small businesses when they really need it: right at the start of their venture.”

Said Michal McEwen, who runs Michal Films, a film production business, stated: “I attended the sales and marketing workshop and then had 5 people approach me for work.  So I might even win new business from Start Up Central!”
