Author and Coach Finds The ‘Write’ Business Support from Work Avenue27th April 2021
Creative Writing, Speech and drama teacher Dr Rachel Knightley developed Green Ink Writers’ Gym in 2014, a business creating and selling practical and inspiring writing workshops and courses, coaching and editing.
Whilst she knew her subject matter inside out, she found the commercial aspects of running a business rather more challenging, and so she approached Work Avenue for guidance.
Joanna Sadie, Head of Business, was there from the start to support her.
Rachel initially wanted advice on pricing strategy and setting business goals, but she swiftly recognised that there was a huge range of Work Avenue webinars and workshops that provide a wealth of information and inspiration, and she registered for as many as possible. Each, together with one-to-one appointments with Joanna, helped Rachel to gain the confidence and skills she needed to expand her business.
She explains: “I’m enormously grateful and so impressed with the service Work Avenue provides. In particular, the one-to-one meetings have helped me target the areas of Green Ink Writers’ Gym I wanted to grow. With Joanna’s help, I have built a stronger business plan. It is so exciting to see the impact of the changes we identified developing the business in a short space of time.
“My business welcomes all writers with a range of talent and all levels of experience. I am very proud that we collaborate with our clients in a positive and supportive environment. The same applies to Work Avenue, who I would recommend to anyone, whether they are thinking of a new business idea or in the process of developing.”
“Jo’s advice was very helpful, but the main thing I think Work Avenue is brilliant for is a safe space to discuss concerns and think aloud while planning overhauls on marketing plans, confident pricing and anything else that’s on an entrepreneur’s mind, no matter how long or short a time they’ve been going.”
