Hours: 15:30-17:30 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Term time only. Commitment necessary of 1 minimum 1 fixed day a week, for at least a school term, ideally 1 academic year.
NB: This is a freelance position; you are a contractor.
Main duties include:
• Supervising children while delivering activities
• Help deliver quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
• Providing comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school and delivering them safely to parents/carers at the end of the session.
• Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
• Administering first aid when necessary.
• Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment and returning it to the same as it was found at the end of the session.
• Providing support to children to engage and encourage participation.
• Developing and maintaining good communication with all members of the club and parents.
• Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
• Monitoring and maintaining a healthy, safe and secure working environment.
• Working within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Person Specification:
Essential:
• Experience of working with 4 to 6 year olds
• Dedicated, enthusiastic and reliable
• Understanding the varied needs of children and families
• Ability to work on own initiative, using judgement and common sense
• Providing and facilitating safe, stimulating play
• Excellent communication skills together with sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children*
• Delivering equal opportunities in a play setting
Desirable:
• Appropriate Level 3 qualification
• Appropriate child protection training
• Interest in art and performing arts (drama/music, singing/dance).
• At least 2 years’ experience of working in a childcare setting
• Familiarity with the Early Years Foundation Stage
• Current driving licence
• Current 12-hour Paediatric First Aid (provided if not already held)
• Food Hygiene Certificate (provided if not already held)
• Safeguarding Level 2 training (provided if not already held)
