Are you an ambitious educator who is passionate about interfaith work? Do you want to empower young people? Are you concerned by anti-Muslim prejudice and antisemitism?

​You must be a motivated educator, driven to create social change in society. The candidate will have an understanding of anti-Muslim hatred or antisemitism and how this affects young people in the UK today. This growing project has already reached over 65,500 students in over 130 schools since January 2017 with overwhelmingly positive feedback from teachers and students. We are looking for someone who is excited to help expand and develop this project even further.

You will be delivering informal educational workshops in secondary schools, working within a vibrant team of experienced educators, as well as managing day to day administration to ensure the smooth running of the project. Moreover, you will have the chance to collaborate with a range of exciting partners including other anti-discrimination organisations and social media companies such as Facebook and Twitter.

RESPONSIBILITIES​:

  • Delivering educational workshops in secondary schools
  • Developing a range of dynamic and interactive educational resources  
  • Coordinating, administering and managing a busy calendar of activities
  • Extensive training on the topic of discrimination, anti-Muslim hatred and antisemitism 
  • Proactively establishing and developing relationships with project partners, schools and other stakeholders
  • Ongoing development and growth of the Stand Up! programme 
  • Supporting with social media campaigns throughout the year 
  • Travelling to facilitate sessions (across London and occasionally outside of London)

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a real passion for working with young people
  • A good grasp of Islam and issues of discrimination affecting Muslim communities in the UK, or, a good grasp of Judaism and issues of discrimination affecting Jewish communities in the UK
  • Eagerness to work in an interfaith Muslim and Jewish partnership project, formally employed by Maccabi GB
  • Experience in informal education or within a classroom environment (eg. youth worker or teaching assistant) 
  • Effective self-management, personal initiative, and creativity, to develop this exciting project
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Preferably, a full clean UK driving license and have access to a car
