British Emunah, the charity with a big heart, supporting Israel’s most endangered children and families, helping to make lives better. Emunah creates a safe and loving environment for the children in Emunah's residential homes, high schools and day care centres. We enable the disadvantaged to flourish and grow by providing support, trauma therapy, education, and training in our community and therapy centres. Our aim is to enhance and enrich the lives of those in our care and provide them with the tools to break the cycle of neglect, abuse, violence they may have experienced and help them realise their full potential and become well balanced, independent contributing members of society.
Job Purpose and Background
The Chief Executive and Director will be the name and face of the British Emunah Team. You will work closely with the Executive and Trustees and lead the Fundraisers, Events Coordinator, Bookkeeper, Social Media Manager and Administrator.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following:
• Lead on strategy development, business planning and financial planning, define and articulate British Emunah’s vision and mission and develop plans and goals accordingly (long term and short term).
• Develop and implement the fundraising strategy with the main aim of increasing the number and variety of donors, including major donors, trusts & foundations and community fundraising.
• Effective day-to-day management of the charity and the staff team. Liaison withoutside organisations and effective representation of Emunah to donors, community partners and the general public.
• Provide vision, leadership, direction and management of change in collaboration with Trustees, Executive, staff and volunteers.
• Further the work of British Emunah to help Emunah in Israel, monitor and report accordingly, ensure that the impact reporting is developed.
• Liaise with World/Israel Emunah in regard to the needs of the projects that are supported by British Emunah
• Overall responsibility for planning and management of annual budget.
• Line management and supervision of full staff team.
Essential Skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and an ability to promote the organisation through all the appropriate media.
• Excellent Fundraising skills with experience in implementing a varied fundraising strategy, including success in applying for and securing grants from trusts/foundations.
• Ability to work with stakeholders at all levels including Trustees, volunteers, major donors, colleagues and other community professionals.
• Excellent proofreading, and editing skill with meticulous attention to detail. Fully IT literate: Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook and Raisers Edge are essential; Canva desirableAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Strong leadership skills with experience in successful strategic and operational management and experience of managing a staff team.
• Knowledge of the voluntary sector, the UK Jewish community, Israel and Israeli affairs.
• Proven ability to develop long term and short term strategies to meet organisational objectives.
• Experience in planning and running events
