Business Breakfast with Sir Lloyd Dorfman

18th June 2019

We were delighted to host British entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Lloyd Dorfman at the latest of our regular business breakfasts.  Having founded Travelex, today known as Travelex Group, the world’s largest retailer of foreign exchange Sir Lloyd was knighted in 2018 in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to Philanthropy and the Arts.  He now focuses on a portfolio of business interests, including Doddle, the click and collect tech platform, and Dorfman Media Holdings, a media company focused on film and TV finance and production.

Over breakfast, Sir Lloyd spoke to a packed room of community businesspeople and entrepreneurs on the development of his career and provided inspirational and motivational advice and guidance on growing a developing business.  He also spoke of the importance of engaging with the Jewish charitable world and with British society as a whole.

Ben Cohen, Managing Director of payment solutions provider Fidelity Payment, commented: ‘It was so motivational to hear Sir Lloyd take us through his professional journey.  Operating as we do in a related industry, we took inspiration from so much of what he said and how he grew his businesses, specifically the advice to be focused and determined and follow your best instincts, as they generally turn out to be right!’

Debbie Sheldon, CEO commented ‘It was extremely insightful to hear Sir Lloyd share his experiences from his formative years through to the present day.  At Work Avenue, we have been honoured to benefit from Sir Lloyd’s engagement with us, and also our wonderful business and entrepreneurial community.  Our guests were so inspired to hear the steps in his business journey.’
