KAHAL: Your Jewish Home Abroad seeks a dynamic and entrepreneurial individual with a passion for programme development and Jewish enrichment for the role of Associate Director: Expansion. This role provides a unique opportunity for an emerging organisational leader to design and implement KAHAL's international growth strategy, working in tandem with KAHAL's senior leadership team and global partners worldwide.
The Associate Director: Expansion is critical to KAHAL's growth and to the success of our mission: to create transformational Jewish experiences for university students studying abroad. The Associate Director: Expansion reports directly to the Director: Strategic Partnerships and will work with this person to establish specific goals and evaluate progress on an ongoing basis.

KAHAL creates and facilitates transformational Jewish experiences for study abroad students. A robust resource and structured support network, KAHAL works with local communities in more than 50 countries and 100 cities around the world, providing Jewish students who are studying abroad the resources, tools, and personal connections they need to meaningfully engage with local Jewish communities, augment their transformative abroad experience, and deepen their connection to the global Jewish people. Since its founding in 2013, KAHAL has connected more than 4000 Jewish students to immersive Jewish experiences during their life-changing time abroad. By incorporating Jewish experiences and choices into this transformative environment, KAHAL measurably increases students' attachment to the global Jewish people and increases the likelihood of their long-term Jewish choices.

This position will involve remote work and can be located anywhere within the United Kingdom.

What You’ll Bring to the Job:
  • Entrepreneurial instincts and interest in human-centered design;
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years preferred of relevant professional work experience;
  • Authorisation required to work in the UK;
  • Accomplished organisational skills related to strategic planning, program oversight, and time management;
  • Experience working with diverse student and young adult populations preferred;
  • All KAHAL employees are required to hold an intermediate certification in Microsoft Excel. Employees and recruits who do not possess this will be required, at KAHAL’s expense, to undergo Excel training before beginning work;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders from varying backgrounds;
  • A serious work ethic, sense of humour, and willingness to take risks and learn from unexpected situations;
  • Willingness to travel and employ flexible hours necessary to complete tasks;
  • A commitment to pluralism and a comfort with your own Jewish identity to act as a role model and mentor for emerging Jewish adults.
Entrepreneurial instinct and talent will be considered above field experience. As a rapidly-expanding organisation, KAHAL is seeking leaders who are interested in growing alongside the organisation. As such, the role will evolve and develop along with the Associate Director: Expansion’s skill set and the organisation’s needs.

What You’ll Own and How You’ll Grow:
Expansion Program Design and Management (40%)
  • Design and lead KAHAL’s plan to expand its operations to serve the needs of British Jewish students studying internationally;
  • Recruit and manage three student interns, placed strategically on select UK university campuses;
  • Manage and expand KAHAL’s network of community partners in the UK, including but not limited to UJS, Chabad, Chaplaincy, and others. The Associate Director will maintain frequent and ongoing communication with KAHAL’s UK partners to aid in the development of KAHAL’s comprehensive growth strategy in the UK;
  • Build and manage relationships with KAHAL’s UK stakeholders, including both individual and institutional supporters;
  • Travel frequently to various UK university locations to build partnerships and increase operational efficiency;
  • Communicate regularly with contacts on the ground to coordinate student recruitment events;
  • Leverage entrepreneurial instincts and human-centered design tools to continually iterate and re-design KAHL’s UK expansion program;
Strategic Partnership Development (50%)
  • Work with KAHAL leadership team to determine organizational growth priorities; establish and execute goals for new market expansion;
  • Identify, investigate, and design strategies to leverage new and non-traditional channels to recruit and identify study abroad students;
  • Explore, design, and lead KAHAL’s efforts to expand its operations to serve the needs of students from countries outside the United States and United Kingdom.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Partnerships team to create a comprehensive plan to improve and leverage KAHAL’s relationships with study abroad providers and organizations worldwide, with a principal focus on Europe;
  • Ensure collaboration and strong communication between KAHAL’s two main departments, Strategic Partnerships and Abroad Experience;
  • Serve as KAHAL’s official liaison to select organizational partners based in Europe and North America;
  • Serve as KAHAL’s principal staff representative in Europe and travel frequently to conferences, seminars, and Jewish communities to represent KAHAL.
Organizational Operations (10%)
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings with entire KAHAL team;
  • Participate in regular supervision meetings with the Director of Strategic Partnerships;
  • Participate in ongoing Jewish learning and professional development opportunities;
  • Oversee management, maintenance and frequent updates of KAHAL’s Strategic Partnership contact management system; track engagement and report on metrics on a regular basis.
What You Will Gain:
The salary range for this position is £29,000-£36,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Performance bonuses are available, but not guaranteed. In addition, KAHAL’s provides employees with a range of benefits, including:
