Fundraising & Marketing Manager- Board of Deputies

General Description:
This post is responsible for co-ordinating the Board of Deputies’ fundraising and marketing activities with the objective of raising awareness of the Board of Deputies within the Jewish community and increasing the amount of donations received to fund the Board of Deputies’ advocacy for the Jewish community.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

1. Fundraising
• Manage the development of the fundraising strategy
• Identify and manage fundraising activities / events such as the annual dinner
• Perform research to identify and prioritise potential donors
• Manage the stewardship of existing / on-going donors
• Identify and apply for grants to support our work
• Develop and manage programmes to increase donations from the ‘Community Contribution’ and other sources including a programme of senior leadership visits to constituent bodies
• Report regularly on fundraising performance
• Advise and involve colleagues in fundraising activities

2. Marketing
• Identify and understand the different components of the British Jewish community, including those segments which already support us and those who do not yet
• Drive marketing around the Board of Deputies’ democratic functions, particularly its elections, including promoting ‘becoming a Deputy’, gender balance campaigns, ‘hustings’ events, etc.
• Develop marketing materials to promote Board of Deputies activities and to encourage take-up of membership
• Manage the organisation’s brand, including logo, website design, and design of external communications including the Community Briefing, looking to market key services that the Board of Deputies provides.
• Create further publications which promote the work of the organisation including an annual impact report and promotional leaflet for synagogues and member bodies.
• Manage advertising and sponsorship opportunities.

3. General and CRM
• Be responsible for the Customer Relationship Management system (Salesforce) and elements of our data management, particularly around the management of personal data of current / potential donors
• Guide colleagues in use of the CRM software as required
• Assist in creating and enforcing appropriate data management policies and processes
• Maintaining a general familiarity with the work of the Board of Deputies. This is in order to be articulate on Board of Deputies’ activities and to deliver our pitch
• Carrying out such other administrative or other duties as may be requested from time to time by the Board of Deputies’ Chief Executive
• This role will require some work on evenings and weekends, and some travel around the UK and abroad.

Person Specification:
• Experience of fundraising including delivery of fundraising targets
• Knowledge of marketing strategy including segmentation, targeting and positioning, promotional tactics, pricing and monitoring & evaluation
• Knowledge of drawing up and working within fundraising / marketing plans, campaigns and budgets
• Experience of organising events of varying size and complexity
• Strong IT skills, including CRM, MS Office products, graphical programmes and social media
• A good working knowledge of the UK Jewish community’s institutions and priorities is desirable

Hours: 9.30 – 17.30 Monday to Wednesday; 9.00 – 17.00 Thursday; 9.00 – 13.30 Friday
Location: Kentish Town
Holiday Entitlement: 20 days, plus Public Holidays and Jewish Festivals
