Accounts Assistant - Federation of Synagogues

ROLE PURPOSE 
To assist the Federation’s Management Accountant in the course of her work. Assisting with daily tasks, keying in data and compiling information. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND OUTPUTS
•    Enter and code financial transactions appropriately
•    Handle payments and invoices and deal with bank reconciliation
•    Track income and expenditure and manage cashflow using Federation’s cloud-based accounting software Xero
•    Review employee expenses and make reimbursements
•    Make bank deposits and maintain records
•    Track expenses as they relate to specific projects and jobs
•    Validate invoices against items or services received
•    Check all financial transactions for accuracy
•    Disburse funds as needed
•    Liaise with and support Federation shuls with their bookkeeping functions

PERSON SPECIFICATION
•    Demonstrable experience in a similar role and a basic bookkeeping qualification.
•    High level of IT skills, particularly Excel and accountancy software
•    Organised and efficient with good communication skills and excellent attention to detail
•    Good understanding of financial systems and accountancy principles  

Hours: Part time (16 hours per week over four days)
