Events Manager- ORT UK

Objective:
To give organisational and administration support to and manage key fundraising events and initiating and developing new events.
This job is part time; 3 days per week

Responsibilities:

1. Work with the existing ORT UK professional team to ensure the timely and professional delivery of ORT UK events including recruitment, administration, publicity, sponsorship and speakers
2. Manage existing events and develop new events that will support both fundraising and profile raising
3. Work with trustees/volunteers to develop and support events
4. Managing the booking process for several events. This will include working closely with the Head of Events & Programmes and Office Administrator to ensure all bookings, payment information and donor communications are completed correctly on our Raisers Edge database
5. Preparing appropriate documents for donors, liaising with table hosts and general team support to ensure the success of every event.
6. To maintain communication with event participants and develop relationships with current and potential supporters, event hosts and organisers
7. To work with the Communications and Marketing Officer to ensure that the impact of our events is fully communicated to donors and wider community

8. Carry out all duties in full adherence to all ORT UK policies and procedures
9. Carry out any other duties appropriate to the post as appropriately requested by the Chief Executive or ORT UK Chairman

Person Specification: (all essential unless stated)

Experience
  • Experience of successfully managing and developing fundraising and social charity events
  • Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience of maintaining administrative systems and database
  • Experience of working independently, flexibly and using your own initiative
  • Experience of working with the press and of writing press releases (desirable)
Knowledge and Understanding
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance in developing new events to help a charity grow
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Jewish community in Britain (desirable) 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of STEM and Jewish education (desirable)
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to design and execute fundraising and social events whilst working with volunteers
  • Ability to use a range of communication styles and techniques, both verbally and in writing and present information clearly, concisely, accurately and in ways that promote understanding and maintain people’s interest
  • Ability to manage event budgets and negotiate with suppliers
  • Ability to juggle multiple demands without losing focus or energy
  • Willingness to take on a range of tasks as required, be a keen networker and have a proactive approach to your work and new possible events or initiatives
  • Ability to build positive working relationships and to work as part of a team
