Coding Your Way into Employment

7th September 2017

Work Avenue launched its new programming course in May at the Wohl Enterprise Hub, giving people with no prior experience or qualifications the opportunity to learn real-world coding skills, leading to employment.

Responding to a need in the community, this innovative programme has been designed to develop coding skills essential to building a career in computer programming. Working in this field has the added benefit of being portable and flexible in terms of schedule and workplace.

In partnership with coding experts, Work Avenue has designed a course which teaches a number of skills, including C#, .net key terms and conventions, Visual Studio and web development, Javascript, HTML and CSS, providing workplace skills which can lead directly to employment in the field.

We have partnered with five leading companies in this field, who have been instrumental in shaping the course content as well as offering to advise students throughout the course.  They will also look to recruit for any vacant positions from successful graduates.

As well as learning practical coding skills, course participants are also engaging with the Work Avenue employment team, who are providing training and guidance to help them secure a job at the end of the course.  This training includes CV writing, interview technique, job searching and network building.  For information regarding future courses or any of Work Avenue’s IT courses call 0208 371 3280 or email emma@theworkavenue.org.uk.
